Spanish parties look to female candidates to lead campaign Italy and Spain are often among the last countries to complete their lists of candidates and 2019 seems to be no exception. All the attention in Spain is on the national elections this month and so the publication of the Partido Popular list seemed to go relatively unnoticed. The choice of Dolors Montserrat to lead the list is interesting on many levels. The PP, like many parties across Europe, have gone for a female candidate, with current party leader in the EP, Esteban Gonzalez-Pons having to be content with  2nd place. Montserrat is a former Health Minister in the Rajoy government and party spokesman in the Spanish parliament.…
