Analysis

Croatia will gain an extra seat as a result of the redistribution of seats after Brexit. The position of an MEP is perceived as a prestigious job for ambitious politicians, with Croatia’s incumbent Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic starting and profiling his career as a prominent MEP, even taking some highly-responsible roles, such as chairing the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee and being Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The latest polls put the governing HDZ party (EPP) still in the lead with almost 25% and the SDP (S&D) in 2nd place with just under 20% of the vote.

Za @mediaservishr o rastu BDP-a u prvom tromjesečju, obilježavanju Dana državnosti i aktualnim zbivanjima. Politika @VladaRH i mene osobno je stalna i beskompromisna borba protiv korupcije. Nema nedodirljivih i naša poruka je jasna: dosta je korupcije. https://t.co/Gw14yxL1FT
